The three-day blockchain event in Barcelona has just ended. European Blockchain Convention garnered the attention of more than 1,500 crypto enthusiasts, and 130 speakers motivated the attendees not to lose hope amid the bear market, discussing new promising crypto projects. It was the seventh and largest European Blockchain Convention, and this time; it encouraged the attendees to build in bear markets and embrace upcoming regulations.
Speakers included representatives from influential financial, tech, and crypto companies, including Meta, Tron, Coinbase, Kucoin, Google, EY, Vodafone, BBVA, American Express, and Santander. There used to be another person on the guest list: Daniel Leon, the founder of Celsius, or what is now known as the potentially bankrupt crypto company.
The final talks of the event focused on how Web3 gives power to creators and collectors.
“The Web3 revolution is changing the media industry forever,” said Sharif Elfishawi, a digital artist and the CEO of the NFT show The Life of Moji.
Elfishawi discussed how Web3 improves the connection between creator and consumer. Consumers can directly participate in governance and gain complete ownership. Creators benefit from more tools and better economics, as blockchain simplifies monetization and provides data portability.
Meta’s engineering manager Matteo Melani noted that Web3 allows creators to establish direct financial relationships with their audience independently from any platform. In the Metaverse, Web3 enables users to own, transact, and port digital objects across platforms.
“We believe that creators can establish a direct relationship with their audience and own that relationship,” Melani said. “We strongly believe that Web3 will be a key component in building the Metaverse.”
He also mentioned that the Metaverse isn’t going to be built by one company but by strong communities, with one particularly important quality — interoperability.
The lectures encouraged the audience to keep building projects and embrace what Web3 technology brings. The speakers implied that blockchain is still a new concept in our world and that the bear market is only temporary.
For the next year, the European Blockchain Convention expects to bring together even more crypto experts and expand the event.
